Feather Template

 

Feather template can be the key to making your scrapbook unique and creative. Feather template is easy to make at home with just a few supplies and a little time. Feather template most scrapbookers already have things like glue, scissors and a featherduster (also called a feather flute). All you need to do is to take a feather template and cut it out to your desired shape and size.

Nowadays there are even kits that come with feather templates and everything you need. You can choose the shape and size of the template, and then choose the ink you want to use. There are several types of ink on the market. Blackout and colored inks are most popular. However, there are also some spray inks that will last for years. You should be aware that many scrapbookers have stopped using blackout in their layouts because they are tired of the frequent dryouts.

Materials

Materials if you decide to make your own feather template, you will first have to prepare the materials. Materials a good quality paper, cardstock or a sheet of construction paper is ideal. Materials next you will need a pair of scissors and a feather duster or feather template machine. If you cannot find the latter two items at your local craft store, you might want to check an online store or website where they are sold.

Once you have gathered all the necessary tools, the next step is to choose the color of the feather template. The most popular colors are black, brown, gray and gold. However, if you feel adventurous, you can always try painting or drawing your own design!

Color Choose

Color choose now that you’ve chosen the right color and the design you want, you need to prepare the paper. Color choose most feather templates are premade, however you may find some that come ready to be glued on. Color choose pre-stretched papers work best for templates, but if you are using them on a project and cannot wait for the glue to dry, then just use the un-stretched ones. After that you have to prepare the feathers that you are going to use. These come in a wide variety of sizes, so you need to know how many feather types you will use before purchasing them.

It is important to note that feather templates come in different thicknesses. The thickness of the feather is a matter of personal preference, but generally speaking, feather templates are suitable for writing on medium-thick sheets of paper. On the other hand, thin feather threads tend to fray easily, making it unsuitable for use on thinner pieces of paper.

Order Process

Order process if you already have a few feather templates lying around from previous projects, you can use these to save you some time. Order process if you can find a package with several feather templates, it’s even better. Order process this way, you can have a wide variety of feather styles and thicknesses for your projects. You can also order them online if you don’t have enough feather materials lying around your home.

After you have used your feather template for the first time, be sure to test it on a piece of scrap paper. Try to make sure that your text is legible, otherwise it will just look like a blurry blob of white. Use a stapler or other blunt object to tap down your text and see if it is legible. If not, try again until you are happy with the results. Keep in mind that you should always re-size a feather template after you’ve finished using it in order for it to fit onto your material.
